Skater of the Quarter: Winter 2020

Announcing Winter’s Skater of the Quarter:

    Ivana Hercha!

    SotQ: Ivana

This is what the league had to say:

She is always there with valuable feedback, tons of knowledge to share, and versatility of being able to do whatever helps out the team, for example reffing, coaching, NSO, skating, or being an official. She is a role model I look up to.
Thank you for all your work on the venue issue—yet again! You are truly a superstar and this work effort was huge!
For dealing with our concerns over our “sisters to the south” and maintaining a great relationship with our bout venue.
    Ivana is AWESOME! 😀 😀 😀
Thanks for all the work with the venue and solving those issues!

Thank you, Ivana, for being such an awesome part of this league!

  • FUNdraiser Bout is Almost Here!

    FUNdraiser Bout is Almost Here!

I know Halloween just passed, but I for one did not yet get my fill of SWEETs!
But perhaps you are just now waking up from your sugar crash like:

and looking for something a little more SALTY.

Well I have something for you that is better than half priced Halloween chocolate!

In just two weeks is Jet City’s FOOD FIGHT Fundraiser bout!

This is literally my favorite event of the whole season. It’s also a really great event for your little ones! The first bout at 5pm will be our MOB City juniors.
Then at 7pm, our league teams will get their Food Fight on as the Salty skaters face of against the sickeningly team Sweet.

At this bout, all jams run the whole 2 minutes. Fans are given a Menu that they can take “orders” from. These are the type of fun rule changes you have to look forward to:

    • “What’s for Dinner?” where a dice is rolled to see how many blockers take the track for each team
    • “Side of Bacon” where there is an extra blocker for the team of choice
    • “Sliders” where Pivots pull the jammers
    • “Beanboozled!” where jammer/blocker swap with a referee
    • “Breakfast for Dinner” where skaters skate in the reverse direction
    • “Pancake Robot!” where everyone stops and dances when the song is played
    • “Banana Split!” where the banana skater causes those she/they touch to spin off the track
    • “Peanut Butter Jelly Time!” where two blockers from the same team must remain attached to each other
All money from these crazy rules goes towards the Jet City Roller Derby league!
So come hungry for lots of action, crazy rules, and tons of fun!

  • Season Opener is THIS SATURDAY!

    Season Opener is THIS SATURDAY!

This year, Seattle seemed to cheat us out of a Summer season. But with the arrival of Fall comes Jet City Roller Derby’s Season 13! This Saturday, both home teams will face off against some very fierce and worthy opponents!

Did I just say THIS Saturday?!

    That’s just TWO DAYS AWAY!!

Yes, and it’s NOT TOO LATE to grab an online ticket to beat those at-the-door prices!

    Come Early!

Don’t miss the Aviators as they start the evening off against the Overbeaters Anonymous! OBA pride themselves on skillfully throwing their weight around to beat their opponents, but Aviators finished last season with a strong undefeated streak! We’ll see which one is hungrier for the win!
    First whistle blows at 5pm!

    Stay Late!

Continue the excitement as the Skyraiders go up against Grunge City Rollers! Skyraiders are bringing out some new faces and fresh skills. Grunge City isn’t going to know what hit them!

    Cat Lovers!

During the bout, check out our friends at the Kitty Korner Cat Rescue & Lounge, a new Edmonds based Kitty Cafe!

Seattle area’s newest cat cafe/lounge and rescue! Come relax and love on some kitties, or better yet, adopt one and give them their furever home!

They are here as our first bout’s 50:50 raffle sponsor!
So come by their table for more information, show them your love and support, or simply chat cats! And don’t forget to flag down our raffle folk to get in your money before the drawing. Half of the winnings will go to you, and half will go to the Kitty Korner Cat Rescue & Lounge!

    MyAmy

This is what the league had to say:

Huge thank you for getting the girls on the run group to partner with us. As well as a kick ass liquor sponsor! So cool!!
I appreciate all her hard work getting our liquor sponsor for both the bouts and our Auction!
Girls on the Run and that yummy booze!
She has been doing badass things!
She has done great work with coordinating events and such. She is great to skate with. I love her positivity.
She nailed it with that booze sponsor.
Thanks for your diligent work for Community Cares. Your work is really getting our name out there and showing people we care. On and off the track you are a great asset to Jet City!
    Excellent work for the league!
For her amazing work with sponsorship
    She got us whiskey
She’s been working so hard on volunteering for this league while also making huge improvements on the track. Plus, traveling for works and still making time for us whenever possible.
Amy’s work with Girls On The Run is a tremendous benefit to the league. I love that she’s still a part of us all the way from Yakima, and I can always count on hard work AND a smile on the track!
Killin’ it with the GOTR connection & liquor sponsor!
  • Summer Derby Hero of the Quarter

Summer Derby Hero of the Quarter

Announcing Summer’s Derby Hero of the Quarter:

    KAREN!

    karn

This is what the league had to say:

This person is not just there to help with Security at all of our games but they are at all of our scrimmages as a NSO and most don’t know this but they are on our alternative list for NSO for those same games. They are my secret weapon and I also know that I can trust them to tell me the truth if I ask them a question.
Karen is SO DEDICATED to Jet City. She’s basically the boss of the penalty box, and without her unique measuring system we would never know how high to stack the floor tiles on bout day.
Karen is always there for us in a million ways be it officially volunteering or moral support. She’s a pretty amazing person to have be part of our league and I’m so thankful for her!
She is always there for us, and dealing with our crap. 🙂
Karen is always there for Jet. Whether it’s running the penalty box, at league events and fundraisers or being our boss security person. She rocks and is amazing.
